As mentioned before, Ayurveda is about illness prevention and its most important means is a healthy diet. This is not a strict dietary regime but rather about principles for balanced and individually beneficial foods - what is perfectly good for one person might be less healthy for the next and so it’s important to know your personal constitution and Doshas. According to Ayurveda almost all ailments can be traced back to a subpar diet which in the long run weakens the body’s resistance and manifests in the one or other symptom. Only if dietary adjustments fail to improve a condition comes the supportive system of herbs, treatments and medicine (see paragraph below for definition of “medicine”).
